Step 2:
Adding and Configuring the TCP/IP Protocol


Confirming the
Default Network Settings

1. Open up the Control Panel
2. Double click on the Network icon
3. The default setting should look like the panel below
4. If you do not need Client for Netware Networks:
  1. Highlight it
  2. Click on Remove

Adding TCP/IP Protocol

1. Click on the Add button
2. Double click on Protocol
3. Click on Microsoft
4. Highlight TCP/IP - Click on OK button
5. Highlight NetBEUI - Click on Remove
6. If you are not using Netware, highlight IPX/SPX - Click on Remove
7. Click on OK and reboot if necessary
8. Your Network Setup should look like:

1. Click on TCP/IP
2. Configure the screen as follows:

DNS IP Address

1. For the Host Name you can type in anything.
2. Type in the IP address for your Internet Provider in DNS Server Search Order
3. Click on Add
4. If you have more than one provider:
  • Add subsequent DNS IP addresses if everything else will be the same.
  • If one provider has assigned a static IP address and the other dynamic, leave this blank and add information later when you create the individual Dial-Up icons.
5. Click on OK.

No other IP address information needs to be entered
